Recipes : Homemade Play Dough for Medha

~Medha is 33.5 months old~

Medha loves play dough a lot and she likes all the activities that include play dough. So I decided to prepare play dough at home once we are running out of commercial play dough we bought already. It is completely non toxic, so it's especially great for toddlers or children who still might be inclined to put their creations in their mouths. :) It also is super easy and takes hardly any time at all. It didn't take more than 10 minutes for me. This is Super Simple to prepare at home. I am sure you will also like it and try once for your kids.

Ingradients:

  • 1 Cup Maida/All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Salt - It acts as preservative
  • Food Color - Any of your choice.
  • 2 Spoons of Oil ( I used Sundrop Oil)
  • 3/4 cup of water

Method:

  • Mix well the dry ingredients Maida flour and Salt together in a bowl with a spoon.

  • In a saucepan/kadai, pour the water and heat it on low flame. And once it is little hot, add the food color in the water.  (If you are preparing only one color dough, then add the food color here. Otherwise don't add in the water. You can add in the last step)

    • Now after food got dissolved in water, add the oil also. Sorry I couldn't take picture while adding oil.

      • Whisk the flour-salt mixture in this water once it becomes hot. Stir continuously over low heat until it forms play-dough texture.

        • As soon as the mixture in the pan starts to bond together and is hard to mix, take it out of the bowl throw it on a board which has sprinkled flour and knead until it takes on the look and consistency of play dough. It will be hot when you take it out of the bowl so be careful.

        • Add the food color while kneading if you haven't added in the saucepan water above. You can split up the dough, and knead in the various food colors. This recipe is great if you’re planning on making a couple of batches in different colours but if your just making one batch you can quite happily double the amounts. You can add glitter too if you want.

        • Store it in the airtight container and you can even store it in refrigerator for more durability!!

That's it !! Easy, cheap, loads of FUN!!!
