Jabbing beads in playdough

~Medha is 33.5 months old~

Lacing beads is a fun activity but Medha is bored of that hence I thought of combining beads with play dough which is also a fun activity. I and Medha did something similar when she was 1.5 years old. But later we didn't try this again so I decided to go with this activity day before yesterday.

Jabbing the beads into the play dough is a great sensory activity, and kids can make some pretty interesting creations this way.  In this activity children press the beads into a shallow play dough tray.  You can also try buttons or Straws or mini blocks or any thing small.

I showed jabbing one bead on the flatten play dough then she loved the idea and asked to handover all the beads.

She is more excited to do this and continued with all the beads she has.

She finished all the beads she has now.  Medha you were so happy after finishing all and felt proud that you could do that.  :)

After a while, she took the pipe cleaner for which she slide beads on to, and she inserted that too in the play dough and said that it feels bad if she doesn't insert it into the dough.

Later, when they've had their fill of free play, you can try adding a little educational twist with a pre-writing exercise. First, flatten out a medium sized piece of play dough on a flat surface. Use a sharp object to draw a letter, number, or shape on the flattened area. Make sure that the letter is large enough to be easily recognizable when filled with beads. Show your child how to insert the straws along the outline of the symbol until it is full. Step back to admire their “writing” together!

I do have another activity to continue this! Will post tomorrow. Watch this space for it!!! :)
