Learning shapes through play dough

Medha is not so creative in creating shapes and models using Play dough. She just loves using play dough moulds to create shapes or just repeats whatever I show to make. I was thinking about new ways of exploring Play dough then I came up with following idea.

I remembered that I had printed shapes sheet from 1+1+1=1 sometime back which looks like following.

Letter Recognition Activity

Medha is able to recognize all the letters before she turns 2 year old. But I wanted to increase her confidence in identifying each letter hence I thought of this activity.

We, I and Medha, have been having fun playing letter matching game last week. I printed out the letters of alphabets A-Z as small square tiles and we played some matching games with these alphabet prints and magnetic alphabets. They've kept Medha happily occupied for hours. I have downloaded the alphabet tiles as a PDF from OnePerfectDay blog.

I began by cutting the letters into individual squares. I then kept these into a zip lock bag and handed over to Medha.

Whizzy Kids App (Android)

Today, for the first time in my blog, I am writing about Mobile app for kids. I never encourage Medha in playing video games or mobile games due to my worry about kid's eye health and the other important reason is I saw a lot of kids who got addicted to play in mobile a lot once started and spending hours of time in that, which I personally don't encourage for various good reasons.

Through one of my friend, I came across this app available on Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod, iOS, iTunes App Store. 

Roller Stamp

Roller stamps are the stamps that create fun patterns. After purchasing this I felt it is costlier as they are just similar to other kind of roller stamps that available for 30-50/- but the difference is it create some Micky mouse related patterns.

Connect 4 Game

The Original Game of Connect 4 is a fun game which comes with coins in two colors and a board with slots. The players have to choose their color and drop coins into the slots one by one turn-wise. The player who completes a row of four first, wins the game.  This is the color of the board and coins I received in my order.

Magic painting Activity

Magic Painting Book is a fun and exciting book for children to paint and make colors appear. Each page in this book contains lovely pictures to paint with water and make the colors appear.
