Book Review : How do Dinosaurs say good night?

I have bought "How do Dinosaurs say good night?" story book in the last week for Medha. Here is my review on this book.

Author : Jane Yolen & Mark Teague
Publisher : HarperCollins Publisher

Story?

The story is simple, how does a dinosaurs say good night to their parents? A playful peek into the homes of dinosaur babies and their parents at bedtime.

'How does a dinosaur say good night
  • when Papa comes in to turn off the light?
  • Does a dinosaur slam his tail and pout?
  • Does he throw his teddy bear all about?'
Most certainly not! Dinosaurs give their mums and dads big hugs and kisses, tuck their tails in and whisper, 'Good night!'

What young children will learn?

How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? entertains while also teaching good bedtime behavior. The text is rhyming and fun to read aloud. The question is asked repeatedly, "do dinosaurs do this (bad behavior)" and then the answer is in the last few pages, "no, they don't do this (bad behavior), they do this (good behavior)." The illustrations serve to emphasize the behaviors partly due to the huge size of the dinosaurs. Each picture contains the name of the dinosaur also.

Along with a variety of dinosaurs, this book also features a variety of moms and dads which helps to give it a multicultural flavor.
  • This book works great when were trying to put him to sleep
  • Understanding what is good behavior and bad behavior.
  • Children will certainly identify with the bedtime delaying tactics and behaviors the dinosaurs (don’t!) use.

Medha liked it ?

  • She loved the pictures alot, There are so many pictures of variety of dinosaurs in human size bedrooms, Dog size family dogs, Children Toy's size Teddy Bears
  • She was intent on finding the name of the dinosaur hidden on every page
  • Medha loves to watch me enact the dinosaur.
  • Medha is mesmerized with the angry dinosaur in the book and also sometimes she tries to imitate as dinosaur.

My Rating

4.5/5
